“How you start your morning can determine your experiences” ~Louise L. Hay
We all give ourselves a good check before we leave the house to make sure we look somewhat put together, but are your insides matching your outsides?
How often do you look at yourself in the mirror to see what’s behind your eyes?
How you start your day off is so important, especially if you feel like you’ve been lacking confidence, self-love or self-esteem.
Here’s my suggestion:
Love Yourself . . . Do It Now!
Don’t wait until you get well or lose weight or get a new job or find a new relationship. Begin loving yourself now—and do the best you can.
How you ask?
Do Your Mirror Work!
Look into your eyes, as often as you would like. Start expressing the growing love that you have for yourself, even if you don’t feel it to be true in the beginning. Deepen the look into your eyes, try to look passed what you see in the reflection.
If there is someone that you are struggling with, talk to that person in the mirror too, start forgiving them for what they’ve done.
“Through mirror work, you discover that you are perfect just as you are and that loving
yourself can heal every problem.” ~Louise L. Hay
Take some time and see what comes up for you. Try this for a minimum of 21 days, it takes this long to start a new belief and pattern.
Do your best to journal each day and see the difference between each day and by day 21 you’ll be able to see the progress that you’ve made.
I had my own experience with this a few years ago in Bali; I had arrived to this beautiful island, looking to cleanse myself as a whole.
As soon as I had landed, I had this attack of acne all over my forehead and my face.
Now I’m not a stranger to adult acne, I actually have a close relationship with it.
But this… this was totally different. The bumps were different and weren’t really going away like the regular pimples I would get.
During lunch time at the spiritual retreat I was attending, there was this awesome book from, you guessed it, Louise L. Hay. Check it out, she talks about different illnesses, what they mean, and how to heal them.
Funny enough, pimples meant a lack love self-love.
Guess what she prescribed??
What the heck, I decided to give it a shot!
So there I go, I stand in front of my mirror and look myself in the eyes.
It was super uncomfortable.
I mean I can’t believe I have to sit here and look myself in the eyes and tell myself on repeat “I love you, you’re beautiful. I love you, you’re beautiful”.
Jeez, I hoped no one was watching…
Regardless of what I thought, I figured I would give it an honest go… peeping toms and all!
By the third day, something happened…
I was looking into my eyes and I felt something different.
I felt so beautiful, I felt so full of love and happiness.
I started smiling, quickly followed by tears.
It was working, something was shifting.
I realized that the spots on my head had started to disappear!
Within just a few short days I was feeling totally different – inside and out!
So if you feel like you’re struggling with a personal area; acceptance, love, feeling beautiful, etc; know that it starts within you, the change always happens energetically first!
I would love to hear what you think is your most powerful affirmation, or your experience using Mirror Work.
